Robots in Combat

File Under: RHFI machines.

The Decatur Daily has a neat little article about combat robotics in the military. It focuses on the work of Col. Edward M. Ward, a marine stationed at Redstone arsenal with the Robotic Systems Joint Project Office. Colonel Ward helps plan the daily use of Remote Human Feedback Input Machines ("Robots" to the rest of you) in the military.

The article outlines the costs and uses of some of the robots currently deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the tiny Throwbot, iRobot's packbot, and others.
